| Concord Distance Law School to Merge, Gain Regional Accreditation |
Concord Law School of California will merge with it's sister company, Kaplan University. Kaplan U. is a for-profit division of the Kaplan testing company, both entities owned by the Washington Post. Concord Correspondence Law School is owned by the same parent entity. Kaplan University, which is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, offers an assortment of allied undergraduate justice and law degrees ranging from associate's in private security to bachelor's in forensic psychology. Merging Concord Law into the Kaplan University conglomerate will make Concord students eligible for government student aid programs. Concord is not, however, accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) so graduates will remain ineligible to sit for the bar exam to practice as attorneys, except in California, a state which allows graduates of non-ABA accredited law schools access to state licensure opportunities.

Free Listings - Online Computer Science Degrees |
 |
The research team at GetEducated.com, LLC is now preparing the 2008 edition of our popular free PDF guidebook, Best Distance Learning Graduate Schools, Computer Science & Information Technology.
This FREE downloadable (PDF) college guidebook profiles the best accredited computer science and information systems graduate schools operating in the USA today, including 50+ online degree programs from name brand options such as the University of Massachusetts, Colorado State University, and Polytechnic University.
"This national survey is the only one of its kind," reveals Vicky Phillips, Chief Education Analyst. "Most online education directories list an average of ten distance master's in computer career areas. At Get Educated, we employ a team of researchers to compile and compare data on every accredited distance degree operating in the United States."
The research team's new survey findings will be released April 2008. These findings will include new rankings of the Top 20 Best Buys in Online Master's in Computer Science, Information Systems and Allied Areas.
The last Get Educated survey,
completed in 2006, provided vital comparative data on the cost of online masters in computer specialty areas.
"How much should a student pay for an online master's in computer science?" asks Phillips. "Our last national survey revealed they could pay as little as $3,270 or as much as $47,000. The average cost of an online master's degree in computers from a regionally accredited university in 2006: $18,395."
Get Educated's earlier surveys exploded the myth that competitive grad schools don't offer distance degrees. Universities represented in the 2006 survey included brand names such as NYU and Polytechnic University.
"Our mission," says Phillips, "is to serve a new generation of higher education students by showcasing all available distance options, equally. When potential students use Get Educated's free guidebooks they are exposed to more than the colleges that have invested heavily in online advertising. They learn about scores of great public colleges that aren't listed anywhere else online because these low-cost, non-profit alternatives literally don't engage in national ad campaigns."
Past Get Educated surveys have highlighted Best Buy Distance Degrees from state universities such as California State University and the State University of New York, as well as unique low cost, high quality options from innovative private regional universities such as Bellevue University, of Nebraska, and Regis University, of Colorado.
As a part of a national consumer mission to help people get educated about quality online learning, Get Educated continues to offer free basic program listings to all eligible accredited institutions.
To be eligible for a free profile in the 2008 edition a university must meet the following criteria: Offer a graduate degree or career certificate in editorially relevant major areas - such as computer science, internet services, management of information systems, industrial technology or allied computer technology areas; be headquartered in the USA; be accredited by an agency recognized by CHEA to grant degrees in the USA.
If your university operates a distance computer science program make sure it's included in Get Educated's 2008 survey.
There is no cost associated with the survey, or to receive a free basic guidebook listing. E-Mail Melissa Eubank, Director of Information Services, (Melissa at geteducated.com), for profile submission details.
Universities that participate will receive a free profile in the 2008 guidebook and automatically be included in the research team's expanded ongoing ranking efforts.
