State Troopers Accused of Brandishing Fake Online Degrees
|
The State of Washington is investigating whether nine state troopers bought fake college degrees online in an effort to qualify for significant pay raises. Troopers who earn bachelor degrees qualify for 4% pay raises while those with masters are eligible for 2% raises. Washington State was headquarters to the infamous St. Regis University diploma mill chain, a series of fake colleges closed down by court order after a 2005 investigation. The State of Washington is investigating what appears to be a systemic use of fake educational credentials by seasoned troopers. The investigation is expected to take at least 30 days, at which time if evidence of illegal action is confirmed the case will be taken over by the state's prosecutor's office.

Free Online University Takes Flight

college catalog because they don't exist. Peer 2 Peer University
is an online community of open study groups dedicated to short university-level
learning. P2PU wants to help curious online learners navigate the wealth of
open education materials that already exist online. P2PU also hopes to support the design and
facilitation of new online courses. If you're an eager elearner stop in as P2PU
develops its first virtual campus.

Yale University - Free Online Courses |
Free online courses are available now in both video and audio format from Yale University's Open University project. Yale University tapes these courses on campus and then posts the lectures, syllabi, assignments, and work sets online. Some courses you can cruise for free: Financial Markets, Milton, The American Novel Since 1945, France Since 1871, Civil War - Reconstruction, and an Introduction to Ancient Greek History.
